Truck. Clean.

So my beautiful truck, won’t pass the Texas State inspection. It seems impossible, since it only passed California’s inspection a couple of months ago – which is stricter.

Yet twice now they’ve said ‘no way jose’ to the CO2 readings. I’m not sure what the cause could be. One would have to have a job in order to take it to the shop to lookee see – mechanics are funny that way about being paid.

So in the meantime I wait. (I have two interviews tomorrow. Yippee). And, today at at the stoplight it died. So when I restarted it – huge plume of black smoke. Oops. I think if you can ‘SEE’ the emissions, that’s a bad thing.

So, for now, I’m not driving it. It’s parked until I can afford to have it looked at. But, I’m still convinced it’s Robs maniacal cross country near 100 mile an hour driving style that contributed to this. So, that’s my story – and I’m believin it. Hope you all are well.

The Biggest Iced Latte Ever

But we’ve just come back from San Antonio and are broiling. Yes, it’s hot here in Texas – but Rob’s AC in his car as crapped out (again) so. We be HOT.

We had an iced latte the other day at Cafe Caffine and here is a pic. You can’t really tell how BIG it was. Wow. Everything is bigger in Texas.

It’s A Matter of Formal Record

18 Wednesday Jul 2007

There can be no doubt. The Republican Party is PRO WAR. They had the opportunity last night to cast a vote to help end the war.

It is clear that doing what is best for your party now supercedes what is best for America.

It’s shameful that we have such a large number of the legislature who, still, remain loyal to a President whose main legacy will be being known as the worst President in modern American history. Why do these folks continue to hold on to a policy that is long past failed? Partisanship. Pure. Simple. No other explanation.

Throw them out. For every Congressional representative – every Senator. Throw them out. This is the time for each and everyone to re-energize democracy and remind these career politicians for whom they work.

I hope Americans wake up and remove from office each person who voted to continue this war.

Hanging out in Austin – Denny’s ‘still’

But, we all have so much fun when we’re together, I suppose it doesn’t reallyyy matter. Besides, they give us our very own room so we can carry on as loud as we like (and we like very much!).

Rob has a job starting next Monday. I’m still interviewing. But the prospects are good!

We hope you’re all doing well and we’re missing the folks in California but making tons of new friends in Austin!! Woo hoo.

On the Road – Solo

02 Monday Jul 2007

On the road. Solo this time. Driving from Sacramento to Austin, for the final time – in a planned while anyway. Kinda difficult this morning saying g’bye to the family and friends too. It hadn’t been up until now because I knew I was coming back. But obviously this time I knew I was going to be waving bye bye for the foreseeable future anyhow.

This is a picture of Austin, on the South First Street Bridge looking east, downriver.

I know it hasn’t been sunny there like in this picture, but it will be nice to arrive there just the same. Wrote a thank you note to the two roommates (Mark and Matty) and will miss those two. Right now I’m in the bay area at a coffee stop getting ready to get back on the road and head south. I know the Bay Area is WEST of Sacramento, but wanted to cruise along the ocean on my southward journey. I’ll keep you updated on where I’m at. Oh, and our new address:

5606 N. Lamar Blvd #233
Austin, TX 78751

Look forward to hearing from you.

Let’s Meet

Let's set up a time to get together!!

Living the California Life in Texas

Rob and I live with our puppies Ganso and Zorra here in Austin Texas. We've been together since 1989 and enjoy spending time with family and friends. We moved to Texas from California in 2007 and it has been amazing transition from Sacramento to Austin. I hope we have an opportunity to get to see you/know you soon. Take care and be well.
